Description
Semax Spray: ACTH(4-10)-Derived Heptapeptide in Liquid Format
Semax is a synthetic seven-amino-acid peptide based on a fragment of adrenocorticotropic hormone, ACTH(4-7), extended with a stabilizing Pro-Gly-Pro tail. It lacks the hormonal activity of ACTH and is studied instead for its effects on the nervous system, including neurotrophic signaling and responses to brain injury in animal models.
Stacked BioLabs supplies Semax as a ready-to-use liquid: 50 mg in a 30 mL spray bottle, with a lot-specific certificate of analysis.
Compound identity
Research background
Semax was developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the 1980s. Researchers there knew that short ACTH fragments influenced attention and memory in animals without affecting the adrenal glands, but that these fragments broke down within minutes. Adding Pro-Gly-Pro to the Met-Glu-His-Phe sequence greatly slowed degradation, producing Semax.
Much of the published research comes from Russian groups and examines Semax in rodent models of cerebral ischemia, where it has been associated with changes in the expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and its receptor TrkB, as well as genes involved in inflammation and vascular function. It is also studied in models of attention and memory. Semax is approved as a medicine in Russia, which has generated additional clinical literature.
Semax is often researched alongside Selank, a sister peptide from the same institute that uses the same Pro-Gly-Pro tail on a tuftsin core. The two are paired in the Semax + Selank Stack.
Verifying your lot
Every bottle carries a lot number. Match it to its certificate in the COA & lab reports library, which lists identity and purity results for that specific batch. A certificate applies only to the lot it names. If you can’t find a report for your lot, contact us and we’ll supply it. Keep the certificate in your lab records together with the product, strength and lot number, so every result can be traced back to the exact batch used.
A typical certificate reports purity by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and confirms identity by mass spectrometry (MS), comparing the measured molecular mass with the expected value for the compound. Check that the product name, strength and lot number on the certificate match the label before recording results.
Storage and handling
Keep the bottle capped and protected from light, and refrigerate it unless the label states otherwise. Record the lot number and the date the bottle is first opened, and follow the storage instructions supplied with the material and your institution’s handling procedures. Do not transfer the solution into unlabeled containers; keep it in the original bottle so the lot number and labeled concentration stay with the material.
Frequently asked questions
How is Semax related to ACTH?
It is built on the ACTH(4-7) fragment, Met-Glu-His-Phe, but it does not stimulate the adrenal glands as ACTH does.
What is the Pro-Gly-Pro tail for?
It slows enzymatic breakdown, giving the short peptide a longer active life in research models.
What does each bottle contain?
One size: 30 mL bottle containing 50 mg Semax.
Is this product for human use?
No. This product is sold strictly for laboratory research use. It is not a drug, food, dietary supplement or cosmetic, and is not for human or veterinary use. See our RUO policy.
