Description
PT-141 Spray: Bremelanotide in Ready-to-Use Liquid Format
PT-141 (bremelanotide) is a synthetic cyclic peptide that activates melanocortin receptors, with most research focused on the MC4 receptor in the brain. This listing supplies it as a ready-made liquid in a 30 mL spray bottle, so no reconstitution is needed before use in research.
Each bottle contains 30 mg PT-141 (a labeled concentration of 1 mg/mL), with a lot-specific certificate of analysis.
Compound identity
Research background
Bremelanotide was developed by Palatin Technologies as a derivative of Melanotan 2, the potent α-MSH analogue created at the University of Arizona. It keeps Melanotan 2’s cyclic core but ends in a free carboxylic acid instead of an amide. Its development grew out of observations in early Melanotan 2 studies that pointed to effects on sexual arousal mediated in the brain rather than through blood flow.
Research attributes its activity mainly to MC4R, a receptor in the hypothalamus that also plays a central part in appetite and energy balance. The compound’s clinical program led to FDA approval in 2019 for hypoactive sexual desire disorder in premenopausal women, and those trials are now a standard reference in MC4R research. Earlier development work explored intranasal delivery before the program moved to another route, which is part of the background for interest in liquid formats.
PT-141 is also available as a lyophilized vial. For comparison with its parent compound, see Melanotan 2.
Verifying your lot
Every bottle carries a lot number. Match it to its certificate in the COA & lab reports library, which lists identity and purity results for that specific batch. A certificate applies only to the lot it names. If you can’t find a report for your lot, contact us and we’ll supply it. Keep the certificate in your lab records together with the product, strength and lot number, so every result can be traced back to the exact batch used.
A typical certificate reports purity by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and confirms identity by mass spectrometry (MS), comparing the measured molecular mass with the expected value for the compound. Check that the product name, strength and lot number on the certificate match the label before recording results.
Storage and handling
Keep the bottle capped and protected from light, and refrigerate it unless the label states otherwise. Record the lot number and the date the bottle is first opened, and follow the storage instructions supplied with the material and your institution’s handling procedures. Do not transfer the solution into unlabeled containers; keep it in the original bottle so the lot number and labeled concentration stay with the material.
